Benny Feilhaber put in an MVP performance tonight that pulled Sporting KC out of a 5 game winless streak. He finished the night with a brace, along with another goal from Dwyer, to defeat FC Dallas 3 - 1 at Sporting Park.

Right off the bat, Dallas jumped on Sporting KC. Michael Barrios flew down the right flank and fired a shot right at Kempin, forcing a good save.

But the home side gained some momentum and were threatening in the final third for much of the first half. Besler was launching throw-ins right at the top of the 6 yard box, they were winning free kicks in dangerous places and finding space to cross the ball, but KC could not find the break through.

The best chance of the first half came right before the whistle. Zusi sent in another dangerous ball from a corner kick that Chance Myers directed on goal, but Dallas keeper Jesse Gonzalez made a great save the danger was averted.

Sporting KC continued to ask questions of Dallas throughout the second half.

In the 53' minute the home side had a crazy sequence that nearly gave them the lead. Zusi, who had a fantastic match, headed a cross from Sinovic, and then followed up his shot with another attempt, but it was a great double save from Gonzalez.

The go ahead goal would finally come in the 65' from Benny Feilhaber. He curled in a fantastic free kick just outside the box that dinked in off the post and into the net for the lead.

SKC kept up the pressure and just 10 minutes later, Dom Dwyer's relentless work rate was rewarded with a PK after he was taken down by the keeper. That gave Benny a chance for the brace, a chance he confidently slotted home.

Dallas would give themselves some hope however in the 80' minute. Jon Kempin was able to get a hand on a solid shot from Victor Ulloa, but he wasn't strong enough and it bounced slowly into the back of the net to pull Dallas within a goal.

But hope for the visitors did not last very long. In the 83' minute, a pass from Nagamura put Dwyer in a dangerous spot and he sent in a rocket that gave Gonzalez no chance. The goal gave KC the 3 - 1 lead.

This team showed glimpses of their old selves tonight. Graham Zusi and Benny Feilhaber both had a an absolutely fantastic match. Soni Mustivar was also brilliant tonight in the midfield. He was making important tackles and key interceptions all night long.

It was a great return home as both fans and the team alike, were glad to be back. Sporting KC hopefully gained back some lost confidence and can finish the season strong.

The boys now head to Houston on Wednesday the 23rd, for a rivalry match that is always a good time.
