Houston has announced that former Sporting Kansas City defender Jalil Anibaba has signed with the Dynamo. Sporting KC declined the option on Anibaba and he passed through both rounds of the re-entry draft without being selected and became a free agent.
"We're very pleased to announce the addition of Jalil to our roster," Dynamo vice president/general manager Matt Jordan said via press release. "His MLS experience, athleticism and professional approach to the game will be a welcomed addition to our backline. He joins our club at a very good age and is eager to contribute to the success of the team moving forward."
Anibaba, made 16 appearances for Sporting KC with 14 of those being starts. The 27 year old defenders starts were mostly in the first half of the season while waiting for Chance Myers to come back from injury. With Myers return and the impressive performances of Sporting KC's rookie outside backs (Saad Abdul-Salaam and Amadou Dia) made Anibaba a roster casualty.
It will be interesting to see if Anibaba plays for Houston when they face Brad Davis. Sporting KC's newest acquisition.
