The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) announced the official list of U.S. Women's National Team allocated players from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) for the 2016 season on Wednesday. A total of 24 U.S. allocated players will be participating in the upcoming season with 23 already allocated and one (Emily Sonnett) in the draft pool.
FC Kansas City's current allocated players are: Becky Sauerbrunn, Heather O'Reilly, just acquired Sydney Leroux and Amy Rodriguez although Rodriguez will miss the season while pregnant.
The NWSL also stated that there will be further announcements regarding the official list of allocated players from the Canadian Soccer Association and Federation of Mexican Football in the coming days. There have been several reports that Mexico was pulling out of the NWSL and not allocating players.
Several players have been dropped from allocation including FC Kansas City's Lauren Holiday (retirement) and Nicole Barnhart. In addition to the returning allocated players, four new U.S. Women's National Team players have been allocated. Jaelene Hinkle, Lindsey Horan, Samantha Mewis and unattached Emily Sonnett have been allocated.
The NWSL will be holding the 2016 College Draft on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at 9 a.m.CT at the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention in Baltimore.

As a result, Portland has received returning U.S. Women's National Team player Lindsey Horan.
