When Oriol ‘Uri’ Rosell was transferred to Sporting Clube de Portugal (also known as Sporting Lisbon), it was hoped by many fans that he would someday return to MLS and play for Sporting Kansas City again. Since Sporting KC received a transfer fee for him they did not have his rights anymore.
There were a few rumors popping up recently that Rosell was possibly returning to MLS. The speculation was that Rosell would be loaned to the New England Revolution. Uri was not getting playing time and Sporting Clube de Portugal had a long term deal with the Revolution.
The one problem with that rumor is that since Rosell had been in the league and Sporting KC received a transfer fee for him, he would have to go through the allocation process. New England is currently tenth so nine other teams would have to pass on him and be unwilling to trade their spot to an interested team as well.
At least for the time being, all of those rumors are moot. Rosell was loaned from Sporting Clube de Portugal to Portuguese Primeira Liga opponent Vitória Sport Clube,( commonly known as Vitória de Guimarães). The loan is through the end of the season so Rosell is tied up through May.
Hopefully Rosell will be able to see the field more often with his new club.
