Sunday, the Swope Park Rangers were left in a bad situation when both outside backs were red carded in Sundays Western Conference Semifinal against the Orange County Blues. The Rangers held on and even regained the lead to advance to the Western Conference Final despite playing two men down.
The USL was quick to hand down the expected suspensions Monday.
Ever Alvarado received a straight red for s for a challenge from behind on Orange County's A.J. Gray in the 69th. He has been suspended the standard one game for a red card.
Tommy Meyer received a straight red for his foul on Akwafei Ajeakwa in the 88th. Meyer and Ajeakwa were both battling for the ball and after Ajeakwa fell, Meyer stepped on

while returning to play.
The assistant referee saw the incident and after conferring with the center referee Meyer received his red.
Meyer has received two three-game suspensions. Three games were for stepping on Ajeakwa and the additional three games for making contact with the assistant referee on his way off the field.
Alvarado will miss the conference final but would be available if Swope Park makes it to the USL final. Meyers suspension makes him unavailable for the Rangers for the rest of the year.
Were the cards and suspensions fair? Will Meyers ever be in a Swope Park uniform again?
