Reliable sources are indicating that FC Kansas City’s Frances Silva will be retiring prior to the 2017 season. Silva has received a job offer that she wants to pursue. FC Kansas City did not comment when asked for confirmation.

Silva was the 19th overall pick in the 2014 NWSL Draft, helping FC Kansas City to win back-to-back NWSL Championships in 2014 and 2015. Prior to being drafted by her home town team, Silva helped lead West Virginia to a Big 12 tournament championship at Swope Soccer Village on the same field where she would eventually play for the Blues.

Sadly this continues the trend of good players retiring to take jobs and leaving their playing careers behind while they still have plenty of playing options available.
