Sporting Kansas City re-signed defender Kevin Ellis, goalkeeper Alec Kann and extended defender Jimmy Medranda, the club announced on Tuesday.
Ellis is signed for two years through 2018, while Kann is signed through 2017 with options for 2018 and 2018. Medranda has been extended through 2019 with an option for 2020.
Ellis is a 25-year-old Kansas City native who has been with Sporting KC since February 2011 and has played in 82 matches across all competitions in that time.
Kann, 26, was acquired by Sporting KC in the re-entry draft last season and served as the second-string keeper behind Tim Melia, however injuries to Melia put Kann in the starting lineup 10 times in all competitions. He was voted the Sporting KC Newcomer of the Year.
Medranda, 22, has been with Sporting KC since 2013. He had a breakout year in 2016 as he made starts at left back for the first time with the club and played in 29 matches because of it. The Colombian native had one goal and two assists this season.
Here’s how the 2017 roster looks with these signings.
