MLS Video Examines the Sporting Kansas City and Real Salt Lake Rivalry

Major League Soccer posted a video today looking into the "Most Underrated Rivalry in MLS". That's a pretty good estimation, but Saturday's match may be lacking some of this duel's normal bite.

Whenever Sporting KC match up against Real Salt Lake, you know you are in for a good time. Saturday night at Children's Mercy Park is another chance to see the two Western Conference foes butt heads.

However both teams come into the match facing several absences. Key instigators Kyle Beckerman and Roger Espinoza are both serving red card suspensions and RSL may even be using the Extreme Hardship Rule to call up short term USL signings. Among others, Captain Matt Besler will likely miss the game for SKC which will spare RSL of the "garbage long throw-in".

So it may not have the normal bite tomorrow night, but MLSSoccer.com posted a video with some great highlights of all the ugly tackles as well as the classic shoving and 'almost fights'.

This is definitely a very underrated rivalry because of the lack of proximity. But the hatred is very real. Perhaps the most outspoken for KC has been Benny Feilhaber. After sharing his feelings publicly, he came on as a sub and scored his best goal of the year in Salt Lake last year. Look for Benny to be chomping at the bit not only for RSL, but to make his season debut.

Even with players missing on both sides, Saturday night is going to provide plenty of the normal intensity.

7:30pm at CMP. Be there.
