Before their MLS parent clubs face off on Wednesday night, the Swope Park Rangers take on Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 for the first ever match on their home field in Swope Soccer Village. Jordi Quintilla joins Daniel Salloi and Jon Kempin as Sporting KC loanees for this match and all three are likely to get the start. Kickoff is at 7pm and as always it will be live streamed on SportingKC.com.
The Whitecaps FC 2 finished next to last place in 2015, but are off to a good start. They've still yet to be beaten this season after coming from behind to earn a point in LA against the Galaxy II last Friday. VWFC2 is at #5 in the USL power rankings with a 2-0-2 record.
Marc Dos Santos' squad suffered its first defeat in club history last week against instant rivals, Jimmy Nielsen and the Oklahoma City Energy FC. But reinforcements have come by way of Sporting KC loan Jordi Quintilla. The 22 year old did not make the trip to the west coast with SKC and this match provided him with a chance to get some minutes as well as confidence. With Dane Kelly sidelined, another SKC loan in Daniel Salloi will likely get the start up top.
The Rangers have several festivities planned tor their first true home game tonight. They will have $1 Hot Dogs, $5 beers, free coffee samples, and the first 1,000 fans will get a commemorative poster. You can still get tickets for $12.
Sporting KC have done a great job of putting together the Swope Park Rangers. MDS has so much talent and potential in this group. Quintilla and Oliveira together in the midfield feeding to Tyrpak, Salloi, and Pasher makes for an insanely good attacking front for the USL. Plus golden boy Jon Kempin is playing fantastic in goal.
So get out to Swope Park, watch on your computer, or pull out your phone.... but this is definitely a game you don't want to miss tonight!
