Sporting Kansas City will reportedly go retro when they host the Colorado Rapids next week, bringing back elements of their famous (infamous?) rainbow kits from the mid 1990s.
The Kansas City Star has photos (linked here) of the kits. Sporting KC will wear warmups that highly resemble the kits shown in the photo above, and for the actual game will wear their alternate white kits with the rainbow infused into the numbers.
The Kansas City Wiz, as they were called in their inaugural season in 1996, wore these kits and they were unique, to say the least. The club will wear these kits as a way to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the inaugural season. The club will also recognize 20-year season ticket holders and employees. Next Wednesday, April 13, is the 20th anniversary of the club's first ever match, a 3-0 defeat to the Colorado Rapids at Arrowhead Stadium.
