FC Kansas City is missing their attacking spark. The loss of Lauren Holiday, Amy Rodriguez, and the temporary absence of Shea Groom was evident in Sunday's loss to the Seattle Reign.

FC Kansas City had few chances throughout the match. In the 27th minute, Caroline Kastor and Erika Tymrak teamed up to try and confuse Hope Solo for a goal. They were nearly successful, but a easy reach by Solo kept the score level at zero. In the second half, the Blues were given a free kick right on the left corner of the box after substitute Alexa Newfield was taken down by Manon Melis. Melis subsequently left the match with an ankle injury. The free kick was taken by Yael Averbuch, who skimmed it wide and into the side netting.

Seattle's goal came in the 56th minute, when Kim Little twisted and turned past Averbuch and Brittany Taylor to slide the ball past Barnhart into the lower left corner of the goal.

Forward Shea Groom missed this match due to a red card given after two yellows in Kansas City's last game against Portland, but should be available when the Blues take on the Houston Dash next Sunday. Her attacking spark should bring some relief to a team that lacked creativity and motivation tonight.

That match begins at 7:30CT at the Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City.
