Match Preview: Swope Park Rangers at Rio Grande Valley FC

Marc Dos Santos and the Swope Park Rangers head to Texas to face Rio Grande Valley FC for a USL Western Conference showdown on Saturday night at 7:30pm. SPR wants to build on last week's victory and they would leapfrog Rio Grande Valley in the standings with a win.

We've got another double header tonight with the Swope Park Rangers playing the same time as Sporting KC. The Rangers head to Edinburg, Texas to face Rio Grande Valley FC at UTRGV Soccer and Track Complex. Kickoff is at 7:30p and will of course be live streamed on SportingKC.com

SPR will be looking to build off a 2-1 home victory last week over Tulsa Roughnecks FC. They were lifted by a brace from Tyler Pasher, and the win snapped a three game losing streak for the Rangers. Pasher's first was a very classy chip over the keeper, and he found himself in the right spot, at the right time for the easy finish on the match winner.

With a record of 3-3-1, they have 10 points putting them in 8th place in the Western Conference.

Rio Grande Valley FC, standing at 3-2-2 in 5th place, is the USL affliliate of the Houston Dynamo (in case you needed a reason to dislike them). Last week, they drew 1-1 with the Real Monarchs. RGV welcomes SPR having not won a single match at home yet.

This will be the first of three meetings between the two sides. Rio Grande Valley will make the trip up to KC on June 8th, and again on September 3rd. It is the first of a three game road swing for the Rangers as they travel to Sacramento next Saturday, and Portland the following week.
