In case you have not heard, the Sporting Kansas City versus D.C. United match at Children's Mercy Park has been delayed until 8:30 p.m. CT due to
a desire to sell more beer/concessions weather concerns.
The match was originally scheduled for 6 p.m. and will still be televised locally on 38 The Spot with live pregame coverage starting at 8 p.m. CT. UniMas will be replaced by UDN for the national broadcast. In both cases a lot of DVR's will probably need to be put on manual override.
All parking lots around Children's Mercy Park will open at 3 p.m. CT and stadium gates will open at 6 p.m. CT for those fans that have not had enough gentle humidity lately.
Side note: Listening to some of the national media discuss Kansas City this morning at USMNT training was fun. Most of them arrived on Thursday with tornado sirens blaring, the airport being evacuated and a 'slight' downpour to welcome them. They will of course not recall the visits with nice weather but they certainly remember the artic condition on the frozen tundra of MLS Cup, or the 100+ degrees of Gold Cup or the 157 degrees on the turf during the NWSL semifinal a couple years ago.
On the positive side most of them do recall their favorite BBQ places (Jack Stack, Joe's, Gates, LC's) and know where they are eating each meal while they are in town.
BBQ > weather in my book.
