The Swope Park Rangers are looking to get back on track after a three game winless streak as they head across the state to St. Louis. It will be the first ever meeting between Swope Park and STLFC, who are destined to be rivals. The match kicks off at 7:30 from World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton, MO and will of course be live streamed RIGHT HERE.
SPR opened their inaugural season with two straight wins, but they've since lost two straight and are winless in three. Marc Dos Santos' boys have not played in over a week since falling to Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 at Children's Mercy Victory Field by a final of 2-1. The Rangers played well and had plenty of chances, but a mis-hit golazo from Vancouver did them in.
St. Louis FC is an even 2-2-2 on the season with a one point advantage over Swope Park. They come home to STL having not played a match since April 23rd, which was a road victory against Sacramento Republic FC. The're match last week was postponed.
Both teams have had a long break and will be chomping at the bit to get back on the field, especially in what should be a fun match. It is the first time since 1970 in the North American Soccer League, that Missouri has had two outdoor soccer teams play in the same league. The rivalry is inherent and hopefully this is the first of many great games.
The two teams will go head-to-head three more times this season. STL will come to KC on July 2nd and again on August 21st, and SPR go back to St. Louis on August 3rd.
