Monday evening reports started circulating that Sporting Kansas City was signing Honduran international Ever Alvarado. Sporting KC manager Peter Vermes did acknowledge that he is a player they have looked at and that they did have an interest in the Honduran defender. When asked about the reported signing, his reply was short and expected, "I have nothing to report at this moment."

Other sources within the club have given the impression that the signing will take place if it has not already. With the positive vibe given when talking about Alvarado, it seems likely the team will announce Alvarado in the next week, perhaps even in the next day or two.

What will this mean for players on the roster remains to be seen but adding a left back to a team deep in left backs is interesting. Perhaps Jimmy Medranda will move back up to the wing, he has been one of the bright spots on the team this year and getting him more into the attack may give the team some options.

Kudos to Mike at Down the Byline for finding so many sources and the initial rumor.
