The club released a statement this morning that Kevin Oliveira will be out for the remained of the season after suffering a torn ACL during training.
Oliveira has been arguably the best players for Swope Park Rangers this season. Many, including myself, didn't think it was a far off thought to possibly see him make an appearance in a Sporting KC kit this season. Oliveira had really been improving this season as not only a playmaker for the Rangers but as a guy that could really break up plays in the midfield.
Oliveira at times reminded me of some guys currently starting for SKC right now. His creativity on the ball and vision reminded me of Benny Feilhaber at times, but his ability to run non stop during games and to get stuck into a tackle gave me flashes of Roger Espinoza.
Needless to say I think Oliveira definitely has a future at this club, and I really look forward to seeing him bounce back from this injury. Let's not forget that although it will definitely hurts SPR this season, that he is just 20 years old and has plenty of time to develop.
Oliveira finishes the season with three goals and four assists, but most importantly his 1080 minutes in 13 appearances (just 90 minutes shy of playing every minute of every game for SPR this season).
As to how SPR will cope without of their key players is yet to be seen, but the likely replacements are either Alex Molano or the Rangers most recent signing Aryton.
