Reports popped up Monday night that former Juventus midfielder Fausto Rossi was headed to the midwest to trial with Sporting Kansas City. The team confirmed that Rossi will be on trial.
Rossi (25), was born in Turin Italy and played in the Juventus youth system but has not spent much time with the senior team, always being sent on loans. The positive to that is he has played a considerable amount of time at each loan. Rossi has been on loan with Cordoba in La Liga and teams in the second division of Italy.
The young midfielder played 25 games for Italy at the U21 level and a handful at lower age groups as well.
The MLS transfer window is closed but it appears that Rossi is out of contract and thus he can still be signed up to the roster freeze on September 15th. Sporting KC could sign him past that date but he would not be available to play until the next season.
Rossi appears to be a classic central midfielder that can play the box-to-box or attacking mid roles best.
Could Rossi be an upgrade to the attack? A potential replacement in case Benny Feilhaber and Sporting KC do not agree to a new contract? Depth for the future?
