Palmer-Brown called up to U.S. U-20 camp

U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team head coach Tab Ramos announced his January Camp roster to prepare for the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. The 24 player roster includes Sporting Kansas City Homegrown defender Erik Palmer-Brown. The training camp will run from Jan. 15-23 at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, California.

Palmer-Brown recently returned from his loan to FC Porto where he became a regular on the ‘B’ team and helped them win the LigaPro title last summer. The 19-year-old Lee's Summit, Mo. Native will miss the beginning of preseason for Sporting KC.

This is not the first time with the U-20’s for Palmer-Brown, he was with them for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand and the 2015 Stevan Vilotic Tournament in Serbia. Palmer-Brown is the only player on the current roster that was at the 2015 U-20 World Cup.

“We are very excited to be getting closer to competing for a U-20 World Cup spot,” Ramos said via press release. “We are now working with players within our core group of 35, and I am confident that with the hard work during this camp we will be closer to achieving our goals.”

The U-20’s last camp before heading to Costa Rica will be in Orlando, Florida from Jan. 31-Feb 10. The United States first match at the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship is Saturday, Feb. 18 against Panama.

Palmer-Brown could miss more of the season as well. If the U.S. qualifies, the 2017 U-20 World Cup in in Korea 20 May – 11 June.

Sporting Kansas City Homegrown player target Josh Sargent, currently in Residency with the U-17 U.S. Men’s National Team, is making his roster debut with the U-20 player pool.
