John Pascarella leaves Sporting KC after eight seasons

The long time assistant has accepted the job of head coach for the Des Moines Menace

Sporting KC has announced long time assistant coach John Pascarella is leaving the club to accept a head coach role for the Des Moines Menace.

After eight seasons in Kansas City as a goalkeeper coach and an assistant coach, JP found a new challenge in the Premier Development League.

Pascarella will be missed not only as a coach, but as a locker room presence as well. In training sessions, he often found a very angry Vermes as funny as Thad and I.

He joined in 2009 and after becoming an assistant coach in 2011, SKC has six straight playoff appearances and they’ve won three trophies.

“After the season, John and I had a discussion around his coaching future,” Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes said. “He has high aspirations in the coaching realm, and I'm extremely supportive of that. We appreciate everything he has done for our club, and on behalf of the entire Sporting KC organization, we wish him nothing but the best.”

Good luck to JP from The Blue Testament family!
