What We Want to Happen Today 10/1

A look at what KC wants to happen in the one MLS today.

MLS: Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Sporting KC Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Sporting Kansas City missed a glorious opportunity of their own last night to jump into first place in the Western Conference, falling 1-0 to Vancouver, other results didn’t really go their way either. While San Jose topped Portland to keep KC level on points with them, Houston defeated Minnesota to close the gap with KC to just four points, with two of KC’s final four games against the Dynamo. Salt Lake snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat with an equalizer in the final seconds to keep themselves above the red line. They’re one of three teams that are now on 42 points, just five behind Kansas City. There’s only one game left this weekend, and it has some big implications for KC.

Seattle at Philadelphia

What we want to happen - Philadelphia win

This one is very simple, Philadelphia is technically alive for a playoff spot in 10th place in the East, seven points behind sixth place New York with three games to play. They could do it, but their chances are very unlikely. Seattle on the other hand is level on points with Kansas City at the moment. A Philadelphia win keeps Seattle level with Kansas City on 47 points.
