The Kansas City Comets made their first player announcements for the 2017-18 season today. Nine players were officially added, seven of them returning from last year and two coming back from previous seasons.
Veteran leader Leo Gibson has been added as an assistant coach in addition to his playing duties Gibson has been with the team since it returned and leads in both goals and assists.
Lucas Rodriguez, Bryan Perez, Guerrero Pino, Ignacio “Nacho” Flores, Carlos Trombini and Gui Gomes also return from last year. Rodriguez and Perez are experienced veterans and have been a big part of the Comets success the last few years. Pino, Nacho, Carlos and Gui were rookies last year. Pino had the most success and made the MASL All-Rookie team while Nacho was honorable mention.
Returning to the Comets are Pat Kelly and Kiel Williams as well. Both played for the team previously and have rejoined the squad. Kelly played for Cedar Rapids the last two years, gaining valuable experience before returning home.
