Sporting Kansas City’s season came to an end last night in Houston with their 1-0 loss in extra time to the Dynamo. Here are some stats and milestones from last night’s game, including Ike Opara hitting the century mark for appearances for the club.
Ike Opara made his 100th appearance in all competitions for KC, he's the 40th player to hit that mark.
Andrew Dykstra's penalty save was the sixth of the season in all competitions (including shootouts) for KC, tied for the most in team history in a single season with the 2015 season when KC saved six of 20.
KC's six of 12 saves on penalty kicks is the best save percentage in team history.
In the 76th minute, Matt Besler moved ahead of Matt McKeon and into 7th place for playoff minutes played for KC. In the 110th minute, Besler then moved ahead of Diego Gutierrez and into 6th place on that list, he finished the game wtih 1,380 minutes played in the playoffs for KC.
In the 77th minute, Graham Zusi moved ahead of McKeon and into 8th place for playoff minutes played for KC, then in the 111th, Zusi too moved ahead of Gutierrez and into 7th place on that list, finishing the game wtih 1,379 minutes played.
Besler and Zusi started their 14th playoff game for KC, tying them with McKeon for 7th all time on that list.
Zusi made his 255th appearance across all competitions, breaking his tie with Preki for 5th all time on that list.
Roger Espinoza started his 196th game in all competitions, tying him with Seth Sinovic for 9th all time on that list.
