It is a light weekend on MLS action during the international break, only three games taking place. While Sporting Kansas City can clinch a playoff berth this weekend with a win in Minnesota today, they can get further help from the other two games today. Here's what we want to happen in those games.
Vancouver at New York
What we want to happen - New York win
While in the single table New York only trails Kansas City by four points, the more important thing right now is to catch first place Vancouver in the Western Conference. With that in mind Kansas City want the Red Bulls to take care of business at home today and defeat the Whitecaps, that result would allow Kansas City to get to within one point of the Whitecaps for first place in the West.
Dallas at Colorado
What we want to happen - Colorado win
This result is very straight forward from a Kansas City perspective, the Rapids are eliminated from the playoff race, while Dallas can still technically catch Sporting in the standings. A win for the Rapids combined with a KC win would mean that Dallas can no longer catch Sporting in the standings. Even if KC lose, a Colorado win would leave Dallas five points behind Kansas City with them having only two games left.
