On Campus: Wrapping Up the College Season

Another college season is over and it had it’s ups and downs for Sporting Kansas City academy players. For the likes of Blake Levine, who finished his career at Baker with a senior season that saw him score 10 goals and add 14 assists to give him 32 goals and 20 assists, the goals are the most that in my records for any academy player in college. As for assists, Zach Wright recorded 11 in the 2017 season, giving him 28 for his career at UNC, a record (per my stats) for a SKC academy player in college, passing Joey Piatczyc, who missed the entire season with an injury. Piatczyc was one of three academy players, along with Zane Moxley and Absalom Solorio, who missed the entire college season with injury.

Here’s a look at the final stats for SKC academy players in college.

Class of 2013

Seo-In Kim (UCSB) - MF - RSr - Played in 19 games, starting 9 as UCSB went 6-8-5.

Wes White (Coastal Carolina) - F - RSr - Played in 10 games, starting 5, scoring a goal and adding an assist as Coastal Carolina went 14-7-1.

Class of 2014

Heath Honold (West Virginia) - F - Sr - Did not play in any of West Virginia's games.

Mason Leonard (Drake) - D - Sr - Played and started all 19 of Drake's games, scoring two goals and adding an assist as Drake went 6-11-2.

Blake Levine (Baker) - F - Sr - Played in all 23 of Baker's games, scoring 10 goals and adding 14 assists as Baker went 16-5-2.

Matthew Lewis (Fordham) - D - Sr - Played and started all 23 of Fordham's games, scoring 2 goals and adding 4 assists as Fordham went 14-6-3.

Andy Lopez (North Carolina) - MF - RJr - Played in 9 games, scoring a goal as UNC went 17-4-1.

Noah Mudd (Trevecca) - D - Sr - Played in 16 games as Trevecca went 7-8-2.

Joey Piatczyc (West Virginia) - MF - Sr - Missed season due to injury.

Zach Wright (North Carolina) - F - Sr - Played in 21 games, starting all 21, scoring 4 goals and adding 11 assists as UNC went 17-4-1.

Bryce Gibson (Creighton) - D - Jr - Played in all 18 of Creighton's games, starting 11, recording an assist as Creighton went 9-7-2.

Nic Jaimes (Drake) - MF - Jr - Played in all 19 of Drake's games, staring 11 of them, scoring 3 goals and adding 2 assists as Drake went 6-11-2.

Ryan Krutz (Notre Dame) - GK - Jr - Played in 1 game as Notre Dame went 11-7-2.

Zane Moxley (Air Force) - D - Jr - Missed season due to injury.

Alexis Quevedo (UMKC) - MF - Jr - Played in 15 games, starting 11 as UMKC went 5-9-3.

Hector Solorio (Niagara) - MF - Jr - Played in 13 games as Niagara went 2-14-2.

John Leisman (Yale) - F - So - Played in all 16 of Yale's games, starting 9 and scoring 2 goals as they went 5-9-2.

Logan Lucas (West Virginia) - D - So - Played and started 18 games as West Virginia went 9-6-4.

Andrew McLeod (Northwestern) - D - So - Played in 15 games, starting 10 as Northwestern went 7-12.

Absalom Solorio (Niagara) - MF - So - Missed season due to injury.

Christian Albelo (Marquette) - D - Fr - Played in 9 games, starting 4 as Marquette went 3-11-2.

Chase Bromstedt (Tulsa) - D/MF - Fr - Played in all 15 games, starting 7, he scored 3 goals and added an assist as Tulsa went 6-8-1.

Joe Corner (Gonzaga) - MF - Fr - Played in all 17 games, starting 12, he scored one goal and added 4 assists as Gonzaga went 6-9-2.

Leroy Enzugusi (Drake) - F - Fr - Played in all 19 of Drake's games, starting 18, scoring five goals and adding an assist in Drake's 6-11-2 season.

Alex Kaddah (Denver) - MF - Fr - Did not play in any of Denver's games.

Steven Tekesky (West Virginia) - GK - Fr - Played in 10 games, starting 8 as West Virginia went 9-6-4.
