Nemeth Set for MLS Return? - Former Sporting Player Update

A few weeks ago, former Sporting Kansas City forward, Krisztian Nemeth stated his interest in returning to MLS about a year after he departed Sporting KC for Al Gharafa in the Qatari Stars League. Nemeth at the time expressed his desire to return talking about the great stadium and crowds in Kansas City. This past week, Nemeth’s agent doubled down on Nemeth’s interest in returning, stating in an interview that Nemeth’s next destination was MLS and that discussions for a return were in process.

As has been said multiple times since his departure, any return to MLS would see Nemeth go through Major League Soccer’s allocation order because KC received a transfer fee for Nemeth greater than $500,000. As of this time, Sporting is currently 11th in the allocation order meaning they would either need to trade up to acquire Nemeth or hope he’s passed by multiple teams. Given the mood between the two when Nemeth departed, a potential return to KC would certainly be questionable.
