With the international break ahead of us, a number of former Sporting KC players have been called up.

We’ve reached the first international break of 2017, and while there are three MLS games this weekend, most eyes will be focused on national team games. Sporting Kansas City themselves have three players on national team duty with Matt Besler and Graham Zusi with the US team and Roger Espinoza with Honduras, but a number of former players have also received call ups to national teams.

Espinoza is joined by two former Sporting players, Ever Alvarado and Jorge Claros for Honduras’ games against the United States and Costa Rica. In other World Cup qualifiers, Daneil Cyrus was called up by Trinidad for their qualifiers against Panama and Mexico. Mechack Jerome was called in to Haiti’s team for their Gold Cup qualifying playoff against Nicaragua in a home-home series this coming week. In Asia, two former players were called up for their national teams as Sunil Chhetri and India and Martin Steuble and the Philippines each play a friendly before playing an Asian Cup qualifier (India against Myanmar and the Philippines against Nepal). In Europe, Krisztian Nemeth had been called up by Hungary for their World Cup qualifier against Portugal and friendly against Russia but had to withdraw. Finally, Swope Park defender, Amer Didic, is with the Canadian U23 team for a pair of games in Qatar this coming week.

Here is the rest of this week’s update.
