Kansas City soccer news and updates

MLS: San Jose Earthquakes at Sporting KC Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

No SKC this weekend but we have plenty of action to follow.

Swope Park gets five players from Sporting ahead of home opener

Blessing, Storm, Ellis, Salloi and Zendejas have all been loaned to SPR and will be available tomorrow vs OKC. I would love to see Salloi for the first team but it will be good to see him playing with confidence in the USL. A very noticeable name that was NOT included today is Tyler Pasher. The Canadian must have done enough to impressive Vermes and keep a place on the MLS roster.

USA vs Honduras is a must watch tonight

This is a big match simply because the US has to start getting points if they want to qualify for the World Cup. But we have three SKC boys on the field as Zusi and Besler take on Espinoza’s Honduras. Watch party at No Other Pub but the Outlaws will be at Johnny’s Tavern of course.

Complete list of MLS player National Team call ups from around the globe

MLS players have been called into every confederation except AFC and OFC. Montreal’s Ciman gets called into powerhouse Belgium in UEFA qualifying and Oyongo joins Cameroon in CAF action.

Landon Donovan has retired, again

I think it is probably real this time. He has already started to get weird because he’s jumping off of food trucks into crowds of people.

Tonight is a massive night in our @ussoccer history. Let's all get out of our comfort zone, take a leap of faith and get this thing back on track! ⚽️ ⚽️ ⚽️ ⚽️ ⚽️

Swope Park Rangers game to test Video Assistant Referee (VAR)

The SPR match on March 29th against Sounders FC 2 at Swope Park is going to be a test match for the new VAR as MLS looks to incorporate it into regular season matches.

Wiebe looks at each MLS team and a potential trade

For me it would take a lot to trade somebody away right now, but I agree that IF there is anybody it would be Saad Abdul Salaam. No part of me wants to get rid of his potential but that is the one place on the field Vermes seems to have a surplus. Someone would really have to wow PV with an offer if SAS is going anywhere.

USL Top Five Players Under 20

Nansel Selbol made the honorable mention list. But this is a good look around the USL for players to watch.

Kevin Oliveira tabbed as SKC’s best prospect with Swope Park Rangers

MLSSoccer.com looks at each MLS team’s best prospect in USL. I am really excited for Kevin O this year after his season was cut short with knee surgery. He was starting to really boss the league when it happened. This could be a big year for him.

Becky Sauerbrunn & Amy Rodriguez called into USWNT

The FCKC duo gets the call to face Russia for a couple friendlies on April 6 & 9.

Phoenix Rising FC has built an absolutely absurd roster for the USL

Not only do they have a couple defenders formerly playing for Premier League teams, not only did Shawn Wright-Phillips and Omar Bravo join the team last month, but now they have signed DIDIER DROGBA. Bravo & Drogba together in the attack in the second tier of American soccer. What is happening?

Footy McFoot Face

Not entirely sure why people continue to do online voting like this, but San Diego put up a vote for what to name the potential MLS team. In the spirit of the infamous and oh so glorious, Boaty McBoat Face, the current leader by a landslide is Footy McFoot Face. Still better than Real Salt Lake.
