Sporting Kansas City heads west to take on the Colorado Rapids on Saturday in what is sure to be an interesting game. Colorado, having lost five of their last six games is struggling to find their form this season. But this will be Sporting Kansas City’s third game in 10 days – and the starting XI may be a little tired.
Most recently, both teams lost – Colorado to the Philadelphia Union in a 2-1 match, and Sporting Kansas City to the Vancouver Whitecaps in a 2-0 shutout.
The history between these two teams highly skews in favor of the Rapids, who have won four of the last five matches – two in Denver, and two in Kansas City. However, Sporting KC was victorious just a little under two months ago, in a resounding 3-1 defeat at home.
That match will surely be remembered for Seth Sinovic’s first regular season goal, scored in the 6th minute, and for the first goals for Kansas City’s top scorers, Gerso (58’) and Dom Dwyer (85’). Colorado managed to put one in the back of the net after a late penalty kick was called in extra time. Soni Mustivar was clearly not going for the ball when he took down the Rapids’ Dominique Badji, and Kevin Doyle netted the deserved PK.
Neither team has made any major moves since the last match, although Gerso’s scoring record is notable for Sporting Kansas City.

Starting XI Predictions:
Rest of the 18: Zendejas, Ellis, Abdul-Salaam, Mustivar, Pasher, Porter, Salloi
As for the outcome, I think Colorado is struggling just enough to fall to the fire that Sporting KC has after a frustrating loss last weekend.
