Gil and Nemeth Move, Movsisyan Stays Put: Former Sporting Player Update

The transfer window closed this past week for MLS teams, and two former Sporting Kansas City players were on the move before the window closed while a third looks like he will be staying put for the time being. The New England Revolution made a trade with the Columbus Crew to bring Krisztian Nemeth back to MLS, the Revolution paid the Crew $400,000 in allocation money, a fee that Kansas City was not willing to match for the Hungarian striker. Elsewhere, Luis Gil left Orlando after less than a season on loan, moving in a last minute deal from Orlando City to the Colorado Rapids along with allocation money for Dillon Powers. Finally, former forward, Yura Movsisyan was linked with a move back to Europe, with Slavia Prague being a target, but that deal looks unlikely now and with his current contract Real Salt Lake seem likely to have issues moving him.

Elsewhere, Pablo Punyed, a former Kansas City draft pick and his current club in Iceland, IBV won the Icelandic Cup this past weekend with a 1-0 win. Punyed has spent most of his playing career in Iceland and has been a semi-regular for the El Salvadorian national team during that time as well.
