Sporting KC will have their hands full with games and absences over the next couple weeks. SKC is in the middle of a tight race at the top of the Western Conference right now, and will likely be missing a couple players for some World Cup Qualifiers next week. Let’s not also forget that SKC has a U.S. Open Cup final in a few weeks time as well, and would probably like to have as many guys fresh as possible. That being said they also need guys to be fit and sharp enough to play. With the Swope Park Rangers having a game tomorrow, it could be the perfect time for a couple guys to get some minutes to ensure their fitness over the next couple weeks. Here are just a couple guys that come to mind.
Soony Saad
Soony seems to be the most obvious choice for a loan. Soony has only appeared once in the past six games for SKC and it was in the 1-0 loss to Seattle which was following the midweek semi final match that went 120 minutes. Soony has yet to score a goal since returning to SKC, and could probably really use the confidence boost of finding the back of the net, even if it is with SPR.
Erik Palmer-Brown or Kevin Ellis

Kevin Ellis, probably more so than EPB, needs some minutes. It’s been four games since Ellis last saw the field and if Besler is gone for with USMNT (depending on how much he actually plays) then it’s either Ellis or EPB starting alongside Opara. SPR weren’t great against The Real Monarchs last Friday and maybe bringing in some veteran leadership for a game could really help sure up the spine of the team. I think EPB is probably unlikely to get loaned down since it’s been pretty apparent that the third center back spot is his to lose right now, but none the less minutes are minutes and with him likely not playing this weekend maybe he gets a run out to stay sharp.
Soni Mustivar or James Musa
James Musa has spent most of the season with the Rangers and after some monstrous midfield play this season for the Rangers earned himself a contract with the first team. While he will be joining up with the New Zealand national team for their World Cup Qualifiers, he could look to maybe get some minutes before leaving just to stay fit. While it’s likely doubtful that Soni Mustivar would be loaned, he has only played 260 minutes so far this season and will almost certainly be called on in some capacity next month.
The one thing that needs to be taken into account about all of this is the fact that SPR are flying to the west coast to play Sacramento Republic and how the travel could add an extra level of fatigue to whoever is playing. Also the fact that SKC is playing away at Houston would mean that most likely anyone that goes to play with SPR would likely not be in the 18 against Houston. That being said you can catch the game tomorrow night at 10:00 pm central time on the USL’s youtube channel.
