What We Want to Happen Today 9/10

A look at what Sporting want from the other games today.

MLS: Atlanta United FC at Sporting KC Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Sporting Kansas City got a mixed bag of results yesterday in MLS action. They got a draw in Chicago and New York, New England beat Montreal, and Colorado pulled off a big win in Houston. All results that helped them in terms of potential MLS Cup hosting or in terms of playoff qualification. Unfortunately the results that KC wanted/needed to move up the table in the West did not go their way, with Portland and Vancouver both getting wins, dropping KC to fourth and putting them four points behind first place Portland. Along with Sporting KC playing today against Columbus, there are two other games that have an effect on Sporting KC's positioning today.

Dallas at Atlanta

What we want to happen - Altanta win

Dallas has been fading lately, but still sit just three points behind KC right now in the Western Conference. Atlanta meanwhile is four points back and has played fewer games, but also are starting a brutal stretch of playing eight games over the next 24 days. Odds are very much that Atlanta will drop a few points during that stretch, but to start it off, go for the Atlanta win as a Dallas win would bring them level on points with KC (KC will likely hold the tie breaker, goal difference at the moment).

LA at Seattle

What we want to happen - LA win

Seattle is only two points ahead of KC and have played one more game. A KC win and Seattle loss would see Sporting jump all the way to second in the West. LA's chances of catching Kansas City are minimal at this point, so root for them to take points off the defending champions, Seattle.
