Juice Boxes and Post Game Stats: A Trio of Wins

All three Kansas City teams got wins this weekend, Sporting Kansas City avoided an Open Cup hangover, taking care of the LA Galaxy 2-1 at Children’s Mercy Park. Saturday night in Colorado Springs, the Swope Park Rangers clinched a spot in this year’s USL playoffs thanks to three goals in three minutes to beat the Colorado Springs Switchbacks 3-1, and late Sunday night, FC Kansas City played the spoilers against the Seattle Reign, ending the Reign’s hopes of making the playoffs in a 1-0 win thanks to a goal by Shea Groom. Here are some stats and milestones from this weekend’s games.

Sporting Kansas City

Matt Besler made his 224th league appearance for KC, tying him with Nick Garcia for the 3rd most all time for the club.

Tim Melia started his 100th game in all competitions in his MLS career.

Melia recorded his 34th league win for KC, breaking his tie with Bo Oshoniyi and Mike Ammann for 3rd all time on that list.

Benny Feilhaber made his 147th league appearance for KC, tying him with Chance Myers for 14th all time on that list.

Feilhaber made his 176th appearance in all competitions for KC, breaking his tie with Myers for 13th on that list.

Swope Park Rangers

Mark Anthony Gonzalez made his 50th appearance for the Swope Park Rangers, he's the 3rd player to hit that mark.

At 26 years, 174 days, Oumar Ballo is the second oldest goal scorer in both league play and all competitions for Swope.

In the 62nd minute, Ballo moved ahead of Ualefi and into 5th place for league minutes played for Swope, he finished the game with 2,540 minutes played.

Ballo made his 32nd start in all competitions, breaking his tie with Ualefi for 4th all time on that list.

Nansel Selbol scored his 9th goal in all competitions in his Rangers career, breaking his tie with Dane Kelly for 4th all time on that list.

Selbol started his 22nd league game for Swope, breaking his tie with Kris Tyrpak for 10th all time on that list.

Kharlton Belmar made his 26th league appearance for Swope Park, tying him with Tommy Meyer for 10th all time on that list.

FC Kansas City

Shea Groom scored her 17th league goal for FCKC, breaking her tie with Erika Tymrak for 3rd all time on that list.

Groom made her 53rd league appearance, breaking her tie with Frances Silva for 8th all time on that list.

Groom started her 48th league game for FCKC, tying her with Lauren Holiday for 8th all time on that list.

In the 73rd minute, Becca Moros moved ahead of Merritt Mathias and into 11th place for league minutes played for FCKC, she finished the game with 3,192 minutes played.

Moros started her 36th league game, breaking her tie with Mathias for 11th all time on that list.

It was Moros' 38th start in all competitions, tying her with Mathias for 11th all time on that list.

Brittany Kolmel (nee Taylor) made her 42nd league appearance, tying her with Mathias for 11th all time on that list.

Desiree Scott made her 54th start in all competitions for FCKC, breaking her tie with Holiday for 7th all time on that list.
