The third and fourth round of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft were completed via conference call today. Sporting Kansas City held two picks, both in the fourth round, in today’s draft. They no longer have a third round pick as the final piece of the Brad Davis trade.

With the 75th overall pick, Sporting KC selected Will Bagrou (pictured above). Bagrou is a 21-year-old forward out of Mercer University. Bagrou spent four years at Mercer and had 37 goals and 16 assists.

Bagrou brings some size to the forward position. He stands 6’2” and weighs 170 pounds, something Sporting has been missing from their forward corps over the last few years. Bagrou finished high school in Georgia but he lived in Utah for the first three years of his high school experience and was a member of the Real Salt Lake U-17 Academy team.

With the 82nd pick overall SKC selected Wilfred Williams (two players, three Wills...). Williams is a defender who is also 21-years-old and played for Oakland University. He had two assists to his name and three shutouts for Oakland in 2016. He also played college ball at East Florida State and Memphis before ending up in Oakland.

Williams stands 5’7” and weighs just 145 lbs. which screams fullback and according to this article he plays left back and has filled in at center back. He also played for the Charlotte Eagles in the PDL previously. Williams is also a refugee of Liberia and it’s unclear if he would be considered an international.

Both players are unlikely to earn contracts with Sporting KC as Kerry Zavagnin was talking about how their potential first round picks would play for the Swope Park Rangers. Also, there are very few roster spots still available for SKC and some big international signings are rumored to be right around the corner.

Bagrou and Williams join Eric Dick and Graham Smith who were selected in the first round on Friday. Dick and Smith are expected to earn first team contracts barring unforeseen circumstances and will probably be key members of Sporting KC’s B-Team, the Swope Park Rangers (who no longer play in Swope Park ironically -- the Shawnee Mission Rangers) in 2018.

Preseason camp is underway now and the team will travel to Arizona this week for their first scrimmage next Saturday, the 27th. The Blue Testament will be there to bring as much information as possible to give you your Sporting KC fix.
