Across State Lines - The New Former Player Update

Welcome to Across State Lines, the new former Sporing Kansas City player update. It will now no longer just be for former Sporting players around the world. I will now also be including all former academy players playing professionally, whether they made the first team or not (players like Ray Lee who will be playing with Pittsburgh in the USL next season). I will also be including players that are from Kansas City but did not play for the Sporting academy, both male and female, so I will be including the likes of Ray Saari who played for the Seattle Sounders 2 last season as well as female players like Shea Groom whose rights were just traded by the Utah Royals to Sky Blue FC. If there’s a KC area player playing professionally that I have missed please let me know.

A busy week of player news especially today. Earlier this week was the announced Groom trade from Utah to Sky Blue. Then down in Honduras, Jorge Claros and his club, Real Espana won the Apertura season in Honduras in extra time against Montagua after the two sides both won their home legs 2-0. Claros played the whole 210 minutes of the final series.

Today the big news involved two former main players in Sporting KC’s system, first with Dom Dwyer signing a new contract with Orlando City. The new three year contract will reportedly make Dwyer a designated player for the Lions. Then tonight came the crushing news for KC fans as Benny Feilhaber was traded to Los Angeles FC for allocation money. Also of note, I have added Erik Palmer-Brown to this list as he is now out of contract, but since the much reported move to Manchester City has not been officially announced he is listed under the “Active without a club or unknown” section for right now.
