MLS: Real Salt Lake at Sporting KC Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

All the best, most amazing, fabulous stories and videos from around Sporting Kansas City and a bit of the rest of the world.

Kansas City

  • Peter Vermes takes Susanna Collins of MLSsoccer.com behind the scenes at Pinnacle. It’s really a must watch. (SKC)
  • Through Sporting Wishes Kalen Ricketson joined the team last week and Behind the Shield follows him on his journey. The only thing referee Kevin Stott may have gotten right all weekend was giving the game ball to Kalen after the game. (SKC YouTube)
  • Jaylin Lindsey lands at 20th on the MLS 22 Under 22. That’s a new list after four years of 24 Under 24 being the age limit before. Lindsey has 16 appearances between Sporting KC and the Swope Park Rangers in 2018 and he’s still just 18. Former Sporting man Latif Blessing came in at 11th. (SKC)
  • Peter Vermes talks to the media at practice in preparation for the Galaxy game. Of course plenty of attention was given to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Vermes also talks about Dominic Kinnear, their new coach, and a coach who has had Sporting KC’s number in the past. (SKC)
  • Johnny Russell is featured in the latest edition of My Thing. (SKC YouTube)
  • New 15-year-old SKC signee Tyler Freeman participates in a little Q&A with “Anything But.” He talks about looking up to Felipe Gutierrez and Roger Espinoza and they highlight his tricky goal as a U-12 player for the SKC Academy. (SKC)
  • Speaking of Freeman, it’s somewhat surreal to look at these pictures of him as a little kid with Besler, Sinovic and other past SKC players. (SKC)
  • Jeff Rueter is on the SKC beat now and looks at if the team can with MLS Cup. (The Athletic)
  • Podcast: The Sporting KC Show returns with Bukaty and Augustine talking on the week gone by and the upcoming Galaxy game. (810 WHB)
  • Podcast: No Other Pod does their thing as well. (NOP)
  • Podcast: As if you don’t have enough to listen to, the Talkin’ Touches crew have a few pods for you as well. (TT)
  • Ilie Sanchez and Seth Sinovic weigh in on avoiding going on the road and skipping the knockout round entirely in the MLS Playoffs. (MLS)
  • In their ongoing stadium series, MLSsoccer.com takes a look around Children’s Mercy Park. (MLS)
  • Saturday’s game against the LA Galaxy is going to be a full sellout and could break the regular season record.
  • Kuzain does the Adidas AMA. It’s brief and there is no reading involved. Enjoy. (SKC YouTube)

Around the World

  • Colombian striker Radamel Falcao is linked with a MLS move. This time he’s again linked with the Columbus Crew and now they’ve added Inter Miami to the list. In the past he’s also been linked to Atlanta United and he bagged 18 goals this last season. (MLS)
  • Atlanta United are looking for a potential Miguel Almiron replacement in Gonzalo “Pity” Martinez who plays for River Plate in Argentina. He’s currently 25 and has a 15 million Euro release clause which would break the previous record for Ezequiel Barco. (MLS)
  • USMNT and Borussia Dortmund forward Christian Pulisic is injured with torn calf fibers. No timetable was given, but that sounds bad. (NBC)
  • FC Dallas (backup) striker Cristian Coleman has a torn ACL and is out for the season (FCD)
  • The USL Cup will be on ESPN 2 on November 8th. That’s about a month before MLS Cup. (Steven Goff)
