After an absolutely unforgettable match on Sunday the podcast crew spoke for over an hour to soak up every ounce of Sporting KC’s win over Real Salt Lake.

Sunday was a day to remember at Children’s Mercy Park and it deserves a full podcast all by itself. And it deserves to be discussed over a glass of red! Cody, Aly, Bob & Thad met in the studio and talked for over an hour about Sporting Kansas City’s 5-3 aggregate win Real Salt Lake. We went play-by-play to break down each important moment and re-live the glory.

We couldn’t talk about the game for five seconds without getting into the required striker debate conversation. Diego Rubio opened the scoring, but would Khiry Shelton have finished it? It appears SKC fans are perfectly divided on this one.

Felipe Gutierrez was playing brilliant soccer and picked up a second assist by the 19th minute. He has rounded back into form the last few matches and will make SKC very, very dangerous going forward.

The defense struggled heavily in this match. Is it a sign of bigger issues or was it just a pesky RSL side that knows how to pick at this team?

Ilie Sanchez resumed PK duties in the most incredible way possible. After mind games from Rimando, the holding midfielder chipped it right down the middle. We spoke with him after the match and learned some interesting tidbits.

But Sporting were very lucky to not concede as the game drew to a close. The no-look finish from Salloi was something we will never forget, but the struggles leading up to it cannot be ignored.

The crowed on Sunday at the stadium was truly something special. Cody & Thad separately noticed the effect fans had on the match and believe something beautiful happened that day.

In ExtraTime we talked about the locker room after the match and share some different R-rated stories.
