Kansas City to Host Developmental Academy Finals

US Soccer announced on Wednesday that the Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City will be hosting the US Soccer Developmental Academy Championships this summer. The finals of the Developmental Academy playoffs will take place July 8th through the 11th at the Swope complex that had been KC’s training center for years.

KC will host the semifinals and finals for the girls U15, and U16/17 and the boys U16/17 and U18/19 over the four days. It’ll be a great opportunity to see some of the best young players in the United States play soccer right in our own back yard. Three clubs from the Kansas City area, Sporting Kansas City, Sporting Blue Valley, and FC Kansas City all have teams represented in the Developmental Academy.

Sporting Academy to Play Real Madrid in GA Cup Finals

Speaking of the Sporting KC academy, the U17 team found out their opponents for the GA Cup Finals that take place later this month in Frisco, Texas. Sporting finished on top of the Western qualifying division. Sporting will play Spanish giants,Real Madrid, Brazilian club, Atletico Paranaense, and fellow MLS side, New York City FC in the tournament in that order March 23rd through the 27th.

Shades of Blue Soccer Show

While we’re one day further away from last week’s loss to New York City FC, we’re not going to let it totally go away just yet. This week’s Shades of Blue Soccer Show was recorded with Thad Bell, Cody Bradley, Bob Rusert, and Aly Trost took a look at last week’s game and looked forward to this coming weekend.

Rangers Add Missouri Native to Roster

The Swope Park Rangers continue to fill out their roster for the 2018 USL season and yesterday announced the signing of Missouri native, Justin Bilyeu to the team. Bilyeu joins the club after spending the 2017 season with Rio Grande Valley FC. Before joining RGV, he spent time with the New York Red Bulls making 10 appearances across all competitions for the Red Bulls while also playing for their USL team.
