MLS: Sporting KC at Portland Timbers Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

Finally back in the studio, the regular squad had plenty to catch up on with two matches last week and Sporting Kansas City’s upcoming US Open Cup match against FC Dallas.

We quickly revisit the matches at Real Salt Lake & Portland to talk about Gerso Fernandes and Kahrlton Belmar. Also Daniel Salloi at center-forward was a big topic of conversation.

Thad looked at the passing maps and heat maps and discovered something interesting about the way the midfield plays when Kuzain is on the field.

The youth movement has been great and is showing depth on the roster we have not seen in past years, but it is also providing a great opportunity for academy players and an advertisement for young players around the country to come to Kansas City.

FC Dallas in absolutely on fire at the moment and Saturday will be an exciting match between the top two teams in the West. With plenty of players “knocked up” (according to Thad), who exactly will Peter Vermes throw out there on Saturday?

As always we ended up in long unplanned discussions. This time it was about college soccer vs signing a professional contract.

Also covered was of course the news about the 2026 World Cup and there was plenty of Russia 2018 talk as well.

Let us know if you will be tailgating for the game on Saturday! Cody & Aly will come by to drink your beer and do some interviews.
