Comets re-sign Leo Gibson

Kansas City Comets making sure to not let their all-time leading scorer get away

The Kansas City Comets made their first player signing under new the new ownership as they announce the re-signing of Leo Gibson. The veteran player and second-year assistant coach is the Comet’s all-time leading scorer.

The Comets recently announced that they had re-signed head coach Kim Roentved and much like when he first took over the team in 2010, his priority was making sure Gibson was signed.

“Leo’s presence on the field is not something you can measure,” said Roentved via press release. “Not to mention he is one of the top players in the league. It was my first priority to make sure that we were able to bring him back for another season.

“Kansas City is home for me now,” said Gibson in the press release. “I’m so happy to continue playing here and in front of the Comets fans. They have been very supportive and appreciative of me as an athlete and a person from the first day I joined the team and I am so thankful for their support each year.”

Gibson is not only a fan favorite and one of the best players in the league but he is also heavily involved in local charities and with helping his native Liberia as well. Add that to all of the records he holds and his experience that he brings to the team and it is not surprising that he is the first player announced for the 2018-19 season.

Roentved is busy working on additional signings for the the season as well.
