Shades of Blue - Recapping & Previewing

So much to talk about after a nice 4-1 win over the weekend and with the US Open Cup on Wednesday. We also abandon all journalism to gush over Roger Espinoza & Ilie Sanchez.

MLS: Minnesota United FC at Sporting KC Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Midweek soccer is back! Cody, Aly & Thad went to the studio for a quick turnaround this week to chat about Sporting Kansas City’s dominant 4-1 win over Minnesota United, as well as the looming US Open Cup match on Wednesday at Real Salt Lake.

With so much to love from Sunday, everyone shares their favorite goal from the match. But as always when the podcast gets too high on things, Thad will always put a damper on things to level us out.

But the wave of youth was on display, as well as the rest of the depth for SKC this season, and we are downright giddy about it. Cody says these guys have answered the biggest question of the season, “Can Sporting keep up this pace and avoid the late season collapse?”

We love Roger & Ilie & we don’t care who knows it! A lengthy amount of time was spent gushing about the two midfielders and how lucky we are as SKC fans to watch them.

Eventually the conversation steered towards Real Salt Lake & the US Open Cup match. The crew discusses what they would like to see Peter Vermes do with his lineup on Wednesday. Another topic was, of course, the stupidity level of RSL.
