Blue Links: How to Watch the US Open, KC Royals, Behind the Scenes, Salloi

Sporting KC starts their US Open Cup defense today plus all the other Kansas City (and other) soccer news you need.

MLS: Minnesota United FC at Sporting KC Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

I don’t think it’s an overstatement to say there are no other links you need today (OK, I lied).

Kansas City

(US Soccer Match Center) All the US Open Cup games are streaming live on USsoccer.com under each pages match center. Of course, the link is to Sporting Kansas City versus Real Salt Lake.

(The Blue Testament) Speaking of #RSLvSKC, I wrote a preview. Go read it. Lots of confirmed injury absences.

(Sporting KC) The kids are alright. Youth has been served over the last week with SKC beyond just Kuzain and Lindsey’s pro debuts but all down through SPR and the SKC Academy.

(KC Royals) Daniel Salloi dropped by to visit the Kansas City Royals during their broadcast.

(MLS Rising Star) MLSsoccer.com has a quick video on Salloi in their Rising Star series.

(SKC YouTube) Another excellent Behind the Shield from Sporting KC. Must watch stuff.

(PRO) Chris Penso will officiate the SKC match against the Portland Timbers. Maybe more importantly, Alex Chilowicz will be the VAR. Never heard of him. I hadn’t heard of Jorge Gonzalez either before the debacle against the Columbus Crew (Gonzalez BTW is still not impacted as he’s the VAR again, this time between New England Revolution and the Chicago Fire).

(MLS) Sporting KC are scoring goals. Lots of goals. This one isn’t all about Cristian Lobato, but this quote (that Thad also referenced during the pod, stood out).

“I thought Lobo would score tonight,” Vermes said. “He has been great in the last couple days of training, and I figured something out over the last couple days. I figured something out about him and I hope it keeps going in an upward trajectory.”

(Sporting KC) Three SKC U-15 defenders were called into the USMNT U-16 team for training camp in Florida. Mitchell Ferguson, Michael Lenis and Kayden Pierre all got the call.

Around the World

(Leonel Cerrudo) According to a journalist out of Argentina, defensive midfielder Ivan Rossi is linked to Atlanta United. They’ve been in need since Carmona return to South America.

(MLS) The Chicago Fire and Columbus Crew are linked to Polish midfielder Przemyslaw Frankowski. Huge clubs like Galatasaray and Legia Warsaw are interested too.

(Twitter) Former FC Kansas City forward Sydney Leroux Dwyer harshly takes down her own child. Yellow card at least since there is no attempt to play the ball (which one assumes is out of frame).

(Ronan Murphy) New York Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch keeps being linked to sister club RB Leipzig. That would help SKC in the race for the Supporters Shield.

(SI.com) Wayne Rooney’s move to D.C. United could be in jeopardy. Or not, it’s hard to tell.
