Amor Signs in Argentina

While there’s been no official confirmation of his departure, the Argentine center back has signed with a new club.

Emiliano Amor has not been at practice with Sporting Kansas City since the club was dumped out of the US Open Cup almost three weeks ago by the Houston Dynamo. Shortly after that game, Sam McDowell with the KC Star reported that Amor and the club were nearing a deal that would see Amor depart the club.

At the time it was assumed that Amor was one of the players that Peter Vermes called out after the game for his lack of effort on the field. Vermes said players he was referring to would “find themselves very, very, very, very, very from the team.” It’s hard to get much further than not being part of the team anymore. McDowell’s report was almost two weeks ago, but since then there has been no official word from the club on Amor’s departure.

That hasn’t stopped Amor from being linked with a more back to Argentina. Tonight, Amor was announced as one of the newest signings for Club Athletico Aldosivi in Argentina. Aldosivi plays in the Argentine Primera Division, the country’s top division and is set to kick their season off this coming weekend.

With the club reportedly having finished a deal for Spanish central defender, Andreu Fontas, Sporting will need to open up the international roster spot that Amor possesses to sign Fontas (or acquire another international spot via a trade). So announcing the departure of Amor along with the signing of Fontas at similar times does make sense. But at this point, if it wasn’t already obvious, Amor will not be returning to Sporting.
