Most of the Sporting Kansas City and other links you need. Let’s be honest, I’m a bit tired.
Kansas City
- Nothing like starting with a two week old Ilie Sanchez story you may have missed. Ilie and KC are feeling the love. Definitely worth a read. (SKC)
- Ilie also dropped by the Sporting KC Show along with Jake Reid and Roger Hoadley (VP at Waddell & Reed — Ivy Investments). (810 WHB)
- A really nice “Youth Spotlight” on rookie Gianluca Busio with some new footage from his home life. (MLS YouTube)
- Ike Opara sits down with the KC Star’s Sam McDowell for their new podcast. (Soundcloud)
- Peter Vermes previews this weekends game with the Philadelphia Union. (SKC)
- Matt Besler joins the Border Patrol to also preview the Union game but mostly talk about the Kansas City Chiefs (810 WHB)
- Gerso gets on the FIFA 19 FUT Team of the Week. 79 Rating. Up significantly from his regular stats on the heels of a two goal, two assist weekend. (EA Sports)

- Jaylin Lindsey gets his own “My Thing” segment. (SKC YouTube)
- A look at the remaining strength of schedule for Sporting KC. Only the Seattle Sounders and Los Angeles Football Club have easier schedules in the Western Conference. (SKC)
- I don’t know if you’ve heard, but SKC are having an amazing season. There are a ton of fun stats here about goals per game, road goals, goals by player. It’s a good read from Sam Kovzan. (SKC)
- Sporting KC remain in 4th in the MLS Power Rankings. (MLS)
Around the World
- Toronto FC lose the inaugural Campeones Cup to Tigres UANL as MLS and Liga MX Champions faced off. They lost 3-1 which makes it look closer than it was. (MLS)
- To make it worse for Toronto they also potentially lost Sebastian Giovinco to injury. (MLS)
- 2019 MLS Expansion club FC Cincinnati broke ground on their new $30 million training facility that will be open by August 2019. (MLS)
- The Daily Mail is notoriously unreliable but they are stating that David Beckham’s expansion Inter Miami club could be targeting Lionel Messi. (The Daily Mail)
- Speaking of Miami, David Beckham and company take us behind what went into making their crest and picking their colors with a glimpse at some alternate designs. (Inter Miami Twitter)
From vision to reality. This is our team crest.

- On the heels of SKC causing another team to fire their coach, the San Jose Earthquakes have interviewed former Timbers coach Caleb Porter for their opening. (MLS)
- The LA Galaxy signed a CB to a large contract without scouting him. That’s weird and it didn’t work at all. Have to wonder how all these coaches get fired or quit but nothing for the GM. (Charles Boehm)
If I understand Kevin correctly here, the Galaxy made a year-plus commitment, @ somewhere around $600,000 a year, to a 33-year-old player from abroad without scouting the player firsthand first. Perhaps someone in the industry can let me know if this is a common practice. https://t.co/k1OiBOrP0M

- The Colorado Rapids join San Jose as the only other team eliminated from the MLS Playoffs. (MLS)
- Former SKC man Yura Movsisyan is back in MLS with the Chicago Fire (The Blue Testament)
- Mascot nonsense. (MLS)
- FIFA 19’s 10-hour trial through EA Access is available if you can’t wait until the release date. You may not hear from me for a while. (Pasta Padre)
