Blue Links: CMP Field Renovations, Lindsey, Salloi, Power Rankings

As if Sporting weren’t without enough players now Jaylin Lindsey will be gone on international duty.

MLS: FC Dallas at Sporting KC Peter G. Aiken

All the best, most amazing, fantastic stories that you may have missed. Let’s get to it.

Kansas City

  • Children’s Mercy Park will undergo field renovations after Sporting Kansas City’s season ends this fall. The 2018 NCAA Division II Football Championship game was set to be played at CMP as in previous years but it will move just for this offseason. The CONCACAF Champions League starts in February so there won’t be much time to get things done. More specifics will be released by the team at a later date. (Sporting KC)
  • Jaylin Lindsey has gotten an international call-up as well which will keep him out of Saturday’s game against Orlando City. He will join the US U-20s to play Jamaica on Friday, the USMNT U-19s on Sunday and Venezuela next Tuesday. This now brings the list of players out of the OCSC game to five with Daniel Salloi, Diego Rubio and Johnny Russell being out on international duty and Ike Opara suspended due to yellow card accumulation. (SKC)
  • FiveThirtyEight has Sporting KC still as the most likely to win the Western Conference and to win MLS Cup (from the West) despite the loss on Saturday. (FiveThirtyEight)
  • Spend a day with Daniel Salloi courtesy of Southern New Hampshire University. (MLS)
  • The Instant Replay crew weighs in on the action from the week with Sporting Kansas City and the Seattle Sounders getting prime billing. Long story short, they think Chad Marshall was hard done and that the Ike Opara handball was clear. In the stadium it was very unclear why Marshall got a red, seeing the replay and his cleat is awfully high up. It might be a bit harsh but I never feel bad for Seattle. Everything else went their way that game. (MLS YouTube)
  • Bukaty and Augustine have interviews with Peter Vermes, Matt Besler, Roger Espinoza, Graham Zusi and Ilie Sanchez. You should definitely listen but one thing caught my ear. Vermes admitted that Besler, Espinoza and Zusi had no options, though he insisted Sporting KC didn’t take advantage of it. It’s interesting to see Vermes just own the situation. (810 WHB)
  • Here is the video of Nate sitting down with the four re-signed players. (SKC YouTube)
  • SKC dropped to fourth in the Power Rankings one spot behind the Sounders. (MLS)
  • The Swope Park Rangers Hadji Barry landed on the USL Team of the Week. (SKC)

Around the World

  • The United States Men’s National Team has a friendly against Brazil on Friday. (MLS)
  • MLS Cup will be held on December 8th, which would no doubt be cold if held in Kansas City. Lots of roadblocks are in the way of that happening. Obviously Sporting has to win a lot of playoff games and they generally haven’t been able to win one. They are also behind both New York clubs and Atlanta on points. Of course there is a FIFA break once again between the Conference Semifinals and Conference Final. Two weeks off really kills momentum. (Sporting KC)
