The Kansas City Comets will host the Florida Tropics for the first time this season during a one game homestand at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena on Sunday, January 6, at 4:05 PM CT.

Kim Rontved’s men enter the match in fourth place in the South Central Division with a 2-4 record but have a +4 goal differential on the season. Leo Gibson is leading the team with nine goals and seven assists, including three goals and three assists in the team’s most recent victory over the St. Louis Ambush.

Leo Gibson is making a real case for MASL’s Most Valuable Player. He leads the league in assists(11), points(20), and is tied with Milwaukee Wave’s Ian Bennett for points per game(3.3). Gibson also has nine goals, which is second in the league.

The Florida Tropics enter the match second in the South Central Division with a 3-3 record with a -8 goal differential. The Tropics will be coming off a match the previous night in St. Louis.

Clay Roberts’ Tropics are led by Guilherme Dos Santos, who averages two points per game this season with eight goals, four assists, and 12 points as a defender.

This match is crucial with playoff implications because a win would put the Comets into a good position to reach the postseason for the first time since Kim Rontved’s return as head coach.
