On Campus: Conference Tournaments Begin

An update on Sporting KC academy players in college.

With the regular season done for college teams, conference tournaments are starting to kick off. Some former Sporting Kansas City academy players are already done with their tournaments as the ACC kicked off their tournament this past weekend. Other conferences like the Missouri Valley and WAC kick off this week with their tournaments. They’ll all conclude by Sunday at the latest with the selection for the 2019 tournament taking place next Monday. One former Sporting academy player will already be competing in the NCAA tournament as Yale and John Leisman clinched the Ivy League this season (they do not have a post season tournament). Here’s the rest of this week’s update.

Class of 2015

Bryce Gibson (Creighton) - D - RSr - Started both Creighton’s 1-1 draw with Georgetown and 1-0 loss to Butler.

Class of 2016

Ryan Kellogg (West Virginia) - D - Sr - Started West Virginia’s 1-0 loss to Akron.

John Leisman (Yale) - F - Sr - Came on as a substitute in Yale’s 2-0 win over Brown.

Logan Lucas (West Virginia) - D - Sr - Started West Virginia’s 1-0 loss to Akron.

Andrew McLeod (Northwestern) - D - Sr - Came on as a substitutein Northwestern’s 1-0 loss to Maryland.

Absalom Solorio (Niagara) - MF - Sr - Started Niagara’s 2-1 loss to Fairfield.

Class of 2017

Christian Albelo (Marquette) - D - RSo - Did not play in either of Marquette’s games.

Chase Bromstedt (Tulsa) - MF - Jr - Started Tulsa’s 6-3 loss to UConn.

Joe Corner (Gonzaga) - MF - Jr - Came on as a substitute in Gonzaga’s 1-1 draw with Santa Clara.

Leroy Enzugusi (Drake) - F - Jr - Started Drake’s 3-1 loss to Missouri State.

Alex Kaddah (Denver) - MF - RSo - Did not play in Denver’s 3-1 win over Purdue-Fort Wayne.

Steven Tekesky (West Virginia) - GK - Jr - Started West Virginia’s 1-0 loss to Akron.

Patrick Wilkinson (Saint Louis) - D/M - Jr - Started Saint Louis’ 1-0 loss to Fordham.

Class of 2018

Grayson Barber (Clemson) - F - So - Started and had an assist in Clemson’s 3-0 win over Notre Dame.

Alex Brown (Lipscomb) - GK - RFr - Did not play in Lipscomb’s 2-1 loss to Stetson.

Colin Innes (Kentucky) - MF - RFr - Came on as a substitute in Kentucky’s 2-0 win over UAB.

Connor Jordan-Hyde (Virginia Tech) - GK - So - Did not play in either of Virginia Tech’s games.

Gabe Kash (Marquette) - D - RFr - Did not play in Marquette’s 1-0 win over DePaul. Came on as a substitute in Marquette’s 3-0 loss to Providence.

Roman Knox (North Carolina) - MF - RFr - Did not play in UNC’s 0-0(5-3) shootout loss to Syracuse.

Dawson Lee (Missouri State) - F - So - Came on as a substitute in Missouri State’s 3-1 win over Drake.

Isaac McGinnis (Penn) - MF - So - Started Penn’s 0-0 draw with Princeton.

Reagan Mugume-Rice (Cal Poly) - F - So - Did not play in Cal Poly’s 2-0 loss to Cal State Fullerton.

Mason Visconti (Kentucky) - F - So - Came on as a substitute in Kentucky’s 2-0 win over UAB.

Alec Wons (Marquette) - GK - RFr - Did not play in either of Marquette’s games.

Mohammad Abualnadi (Notre Dame) - D - Fr - Started both Notre Dame’s 2-1 win over Boston College and 3-0 loss to Clemson.

Sebastian Cruz (Cal State Fullerton) - M - Fr - Played in both Cal State’s 2-0 win over Cal Poly and 2-0 loss to UC Davis, recording an assist in the first game.

Ryan Fessler (Wake Forest) - MF - Fr - Did not play in Wake’s 2-2(6-5) shootout win over Virginia Tech.

Dontell Gilyard (UMKC) - D - Fr - Started UMKC’s 2-0 loss to Houston Baptist.

Johnny Hansen (Gonzaga) - D - Fr - Started Gonzaga’s 1-1 draw with Santa Clara.

Sean Karani (Temple) - F - Fr - Started both Temple’s 2-1 loss to SMU and 2-1 win over Memphis, recording an assist in the second game.

Karson Kendall (High Point) - D - Fr - Started High Point’s 3-2 win over USC Upstate.

Sebastian Kennedy (Barton County) - MF - Fr - Season over.
