Across State Lines: Sinovic Signs with New England

The jokes about Sporting Kansas City continually trying to replace Seth Sinovic are officially over now. The Kansas City native’s contract with Kansas City expired at the end of the 2019 season and KC looked ready to move on from the 32 year old left back. Yesterday, Sinovic returned to where he began his professional soccer career, signing with the New England Revolution.

Sinovic will join up with two former teammates in New England as earlier this offseason they signed Kelyn Rowe and former first round pick, Teal Bunbury is still there as well. Sinovic’s departure from Kansas City is sad for many fans as he’s continually been considered one of the most underrated players on the roster while at the same time seeing off challenges to his spot from Marcel de Jong, Amadou Dia, Jimmy Medranda, Michael Harrington, and probably others that I’m forgetting. In the end, Sinovic made 210 appearances in league play for Kansas City (8th all time), 257 in all competitions (7th), 200 league starts (8th), 245 starts in all competitions (6th), 17,738 league minutes played (9th), 21,791 minutes in all competitions (6th), and three goals, including arguably the most important of KC’s 2013 MLS Cup run when he scored to make it 2-1 against the Revolution, shortly after they’d equalized to make it 1-1 on the night and put them up 3-2 on aggregate.
