Sporting Kansas City head coach and sporting director Peter Vermes and captain Matt Besler sat down in front of the press to take questions on Tuesday ahead of today’s game against Toluca FC in the CONCACAF Champions League.
They don’t just talk Toluca. Vermes talks about the roster being open and he reiterated that they are always looking.
He also has a bit of a snarky response about scoring goals. It’s hard to hear what he’s asked but one would assume based on his response it was about all the goals that were scored in preseason.
Vermes: “We just decided that we are going to score more goals this year, so we started scoring.”
He actually goes on to elaborate that MLS teams didn’t want to play them in preseason because they were further into their preseason than those clubs, and they had a plan in place to get minutes for all their players, from the top of the roster to the bottom.
Overall, it’s well worth a watch. Video above and below.
