Man of the match: Leg 2 at Toluca

New, 8 comments

Another great performance for Sporting Kansas City but who should be the man of the match?

The man of the match after the first leg against Toluca in the round of 16 CCL match was no contest. The “Man-called-Gershow” earned exactly 50% of the vote. He had a goal, an assist and was dangerous all night long so the vote was well earned. The next closest was Ilie with 12% and then Peter Vermes and Roger Espinoza with 8% each.

This game may not be as easy to decide. Gerso did not have quite the same score line in the second leg but he did score the all important road goal to give Sporting Kansas City the lead at Toluca.

Espinoza made the beautiful long pass to Gerso and helped keep Toluca down all game. Krisztian Nemeth earned and then buried a penalty. Andreu Fontas, Matt Besler and Ilie Sanchez kept the ball circulating and limited Toluca’s chances. Seth Sinovic was again a beast and effective getting forward.

Peter Vermes put a team out to win and the Toluca fans appreciated it, turning on their own hapless side so they are an option to vote for as well.

With the game at LAFC on Sunday, this poll closes Sunday morning.
