Date: Thursday, March 14, 2019

Location: Children’s Mercy Park

How to Watch: There is a live stream in English on YahooSports.com and the Yahoo Sports app. The Spanish broadcast is on Univision Deportes.

How to Listen: Sports Radio 810 WHB | ESPN Deportes KC 1480 AM

The Teams

Sporting KC

Preseason: 5-0-1 (outscored opponents 28-4)

CCL: 2-1-0 (outscored opponents 6-2)

MLS: 1-1-0

Head Coach: Peter Vermes (11th season)

Recent Form: After back-to-back wins over Toluca FC in CCL, SKC faltered late against LAFC in their MLS debut and struggled in Panama against CAI in leg one on some terrible turf with their backups. They righted the ship in an ugly MLS home opener against the Philadelphia Union on Sunday. Now (likely) those same starters need to win against CAI to advance.

Club Atletico Independiente (Panama)

Last Five: W-W-L-D-W

CCL: 2-1-0 (5-1 aggregate victory over Toronto FC, 2-1 win at home over SKC)

Head Coach: Francisco Perlo (three months)

Recent Form: CAI are in their Clausura season in the Panamanian first division. They have completely turned their attention to CCL though as their game over the weekend was postponed (likely to prepare for traveling to KC). They are lightening quick on the counter and if not for some poor finishing at home would be up by more than the current 2-1 margin.
